The only wine to be produced in collaboration with the Los Amaichas indigenous community - 40 tiny vineyards that are over 2,000 metres above sea level, high in Calchaqui Valley in the Andes mountains! Given the association with local people, you won't be surprised to learn that the wine is produced with minimal intervention and a deep respect for mother earth. . . the harvest is done by hand, with help from some mules!

Agustín Lanús having worked in wineries in many of the key regions of the world, in 2006 he turned his attention to the specific goal of learning more about the unique micro-terroirs found at the extreme altitudes of the Salta region. These terroirs, ranging from 1,650 to 3,100 metres above sea level and include the highest vineyards in the world.   By contrast, the highest commercial vineyards in Europe are found at 1,300 metres

Since then he has the Agustin Lanus portfolio of high and extreme altitude wines, a body of work shaped by a passion for creating extraordinary wines by extending the range of what’s possible.

Tasting Note - An intensely aromatic wine with scents of cherry, dried fruits and graphite, with notes of honey and chocolate from the long barrel ageing.

In keeping with the traditional methods of the winemaking, SUMAK KAWSAY Malbec is not filtered or clarified and therefore many contain some residue.
