Terre Grec Assyrtiko, Theopatra Wines
The grapes come from the PGI Tyrnavos, vineyards situated at 260 metres altitude in the mainland region of Thessaly. The distinctive feature of this area is the mesoclimate, which is largely continental with a balancing influence from the Pindos Mountains and the Pineios River producing wines with concentrated aromas and balancing natural acidity.
The grapes underwent a pre-fermentation maceration lasting for six hours to impart the
aromas and varietal characteristics from the fruit. Gentle pneumatic pressing to extract
the must was followed by fermentation with selected yeasts in stainless-steel tanks, at
controlled, low temperatures of 15 to 17°C. The wine is made in an unoaked style to
showcase the zesty fruity character of this emblematic grape variety.
A vibrant Assyrtiko with striking aromas of lime, passion fruit and hints of orange leaf
through to a zesty palate with a long and mineral finish.
