Château Ducluzeau 2015, Listrac Medoc
The origins of Château Ducluzeau go back to the end of the 17th century but it was it was in the later stages of the 20th century when it passed into the hands of the Borie family and is now run by Bruno Borie, owner of Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou. Bruno, a man of wonderful charisma and friendliness, a genius wine-maker that ultimately seeks perfection who manages to stamp a distinct, unmistakeable and above all delicious style stamp to all the wines that he makes. Ducluzeau is no different and provides a fantastic approachable starting to point to his massively over- delivering wines.
Château Ducluzeau is often considered as a feminine wine since as it is 90% Merlot that is particularly suited for the terroir and to his wine making style.
Winemaking - A relatively cool fermentation maximises the fruit characters and a gentle approach throughout ensures fine tannin and a refined mouthfeel. Aged in barrel where only upto 20% is new.
Tasting Note - A fine balance between back cherry, blackberry and cassis, all delicate but clear as day. The finesse continues on the palate, a sophisticated but easy drinking claret.
