Château des Demoiselles 2015, Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux
Chateau des Demoiselles Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux - currently 2015 vintage, sits under the 'Propeitaire Ducourt' umbrella, a family that settled in Bordeaux back in 1858 and now own an astonishing 480 hectares of vines spread across 14 chateaux providing experience, expertise and knowledge second to none.
The 'Demoiselles' name derives from the Middle Ages when the property was run by nuns. Situated between Saint-Emilion and Castillon-la-Bataille, the 36 hectare of vineyards sit on loamy soils, mainly Merlot with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cold maceration, temperature controlled fermentation and balanced ageing between tank and oak for 12 months enhanced by 12 months bottle age prior to release ensures the complex yet eminently approachable style of this wine.
Tasting Note: A delicious Merlot dominated claret with delicate and complex aromas of red fruits, oaky vanilla and a hint of mocha. The palate is filled with velvety tannins, robust red fruits flavours and a beautifully rounded finish. Perfect maturity.
