
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, Cantina di Negrar
Cantina Valpolicella Negrar is a co-operative of 230 members located just a few kilometers from Verona, near Lake Garda. Since 1933, its story has been one of people dedicated to the production of quality wines showing a true and sincere expression of their region. A wealth 600 hectares of vineyards spread across cultivated by the members regularly supervised the Cantina’s professional team. The philosophy of the group is to rediscover the winemaking traditions of the area, giving wines of unique local characteristics expressed in a modern style.
Vineyard and Winemaking - A blend of 70 % Corvina, 15% each of Rondinella and Corvinone. The grapes are traditionally dried on racks for 120 days and vinified in January. Ageing in n 225 hl and 50 hl barrels of French Allier or Never Oak for 18 months and a further 6 months in bottle before release.
Tasting Note - Intense and persistent, black fruits and dried prunes, with hints of dried flowers and spices. Full bodied and very smooth, with beautifully balanced velvety tannins.
Food matching - Grilled or braised red meats, game dishes and mature cheese.
