Description
Understated at first, this Chenin based blend opens up beautifully to expose wild honey, peach blossoms and toasted nuts. With a taut mineral freshness, the smooth oak is seamlessly integrated
The Chenin Blanc originates from a 30-year-old vineyard, aptly named The Graveyard in respect to the historic family graveyard it encloses. The vines naturally yield no more than 5 tons/ha. Their age and low yield ensures consistent quality and concentration, which is why it forms the backbone of our blend. The fullness of the Chenin is tempered by the verve and high aromatics of the Grenache Blanc, Viognier and Roussanne. The Chardonnay is also essential for freshness and lift.
This wine is produced and labelled as Vegan Friendly.
VONDELING traces its origins back to 1704 when the land was first granted to Swedish immigrant Oloff Bergh by Governor Van Der Stel. Situated between Wellington and Paarl on the slopes of the breathtaking Paardeberg Mountain. The farm was bought by the Armajaro Group in 2002, at which point they embarked on a major reconstruction programme which included extensive replanting and the installation of a state of the art winery. The result is a collection of which five wines have four or more stars from the Platter’s South African wine Guide. They have also received excellent reviews from Robert Parker.
