Donjon de Lamarque 2018, Haut Medoc
Donjon de Lamarque is the second wine of the Château de Lamarque, a splendid vineyard of Haut-Médoc. Built for more 1 000 years, the Château was always
the property of the same family! The 35 hectares of the vineyard is composed of a terroir of gravels. The planted grape varieties is composed of 45% of Cabernet-Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot and 5% of Petit Verdot.
Ranked as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur since 1932, the property produce excellent wines, characterised by finesse and elegance. According to current owner Pierre-Gilles Gromand-d’Evry, “The philosophy of our winemaking process is founded on the respect of the fruit. No one movement by excess, only softness.”
Winemaking - Blend of 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Traditional, in thermoregulated stainless steel vats. Ageing - French oak barrels, 40% in 1 year old, 60% in 2 year old + barrels.
Tasting Note - Welcoming notes of refined wild dark berry fruits with toasted notes and mocha. Elegant tannin structure that is maturing nicely, benefits beautifully from a touch of breathing time to help the wine evolve in the glass.
