Lucale Primitivo Appassimento is a rich, smooth and full-bodied red wine from Puglia in southern Italy. Made by Borgo dei Trulli from carefully selected Primitivo grapes, it offers generous flavours of ripe cherry, dark berries and redcurrant, balanced by warming spice, subtle oak and a long, velvety finish.
Part of the wine’s distinctive character comes from an appassimento-inspired method known as il giro del picciolo. Around half of the grape bunches are gently twisted on the vine, allowing the fruit to partially dry and develop greater concentration, depth and natural richness.
With its soft tannins and rounded texture, Lucale is an approachable yet characterful Italian red—ideal for fans of bold, fruit-forward wines. Enjoy it with grilled or roasted meats, slow-cooked dishes, game or mature cheeses, or serve lightly chilled at 16–18°C.
