Ventisquero Chardonnay Reserva
Ventisquero have become one of Chile's leading premium wineries since being first established in 1998 enviably owning vineyards in many of the most important regions. Winemaking is lead by Tim Atkins MW's 'Chilean Winemaker of the Year 2021', Felipe Tosso, who has worked closely with John Duval, of Penfolds fame, creating iconic Chilean wines.
Sourced from the cooler climate region of Casablanca Valley north west of Santiago that focuses the majority of its' production on white varietals such as this Chardonnay
Winemaking and Ageing - 100% of this wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the varietal aroma then aged over its lees for 6 months and finally, 25% of the wine was aged in French oak for the same period of time to induce complexity but maintain the fruit characters of the wine.
Tasting note - elegant and expressive aromas of tropical fruit, such as papayas and pineapple, complemented by soft notes of vanilla and dried fruits. A well-rounded wine with good body and delicious acidity. The finish is soft and dominated by tropical fruit and smooth vanilla.
Food pairing - this wine pairs well with oily fish, cheese, risotto, shellfish, pasta and white meat.
